The first mass mobile device!
This portable music player revolutionised how we listen to tunes. Before smartphones, it was the king of on-the-go listening, letting you carry your entire music library (well, a few tapes' worth) in your pocket.
Did you know?
The first Walkman included a second headset jack, to prevent solo-listening with the fear it will promote isolation. But nobody ended up wanting this, so back to one jack!
I was created in Japan in 1979.
I have now ceased to exist, but my spirit lives on!
We were 400 000 000 millions.
Carrying this meant you were the DJ of your own life, soundtracking your commute or your jog.
You popped in a cassette, slipped on some headphones, and suddenly, the world became your personal concert hall.
